AMC Laboratory

Laboratory tests are an integral part of the workup of any patient, and constitute up to 80% of a physician's diagnosis and treatment choice. Laboratories are extremely busy yet highly ordered spaces with orders for rapid life saving specimen analyses arriving continually. The importance of fast turnaround times is crucial in many cases. The AMC lab is committed to accuracy and efficiency in providing test results for its patients.
Typically a set of vacutainer tubes containing blood, or any other specimen are taken to the laboratory in a small plastic bag, along with an identifying form. However in AMC, the specimen samples will not be moved around by nurses or other staff in such a manner, instead an internal sterile pneumatic system will move specimens from the various AMC units rapidly and safely to the central lab for analysis.
All test and analysis results in the AMC lab will be digitally recorded, thus rendering them immediately available through the internal computer system to attending medical staff at any of the computer workstations strategically positioned around the Center.
Tests that are performed include those needed in emergency situations (e.g., markers for heart attack) in the surgical unit.
The AMC lab will be segmented by type of testing and staffed by professional personnel trained in particular specialties. For example, one section will focus on microbiology, hematology and chemistry. Another will carry out microscopy and immuno-histochemistry tests (the diagnosis of abnormal cells such as those found in cancerous tumors). Still others will focus on surgical pathology and cytology.
By providing state-of-the art testing, integrated digital medical records, consultation, and outstanding customer service, AMC contributes to the quality, access, continuity, and cost-effectiveness of patient care in Ashdod and its environs.
The Central Laboratory can be named for 320,000 euro. Full and appropriate donor recognition will be provided at the Ashdod Emergency Medical Center.
